thankful for the amazing spirit of my oldest daughter

one photo each day

all month

lesson in the sky

among the faraway hills of Texas

river reflects a bright day in her natural classroom

through the branches that reach to touch the vast southern sky

she encourages each student . a steady and sure climb up the pole

standing in the middle . my daughter . an Outdoor Education teacher

reminds each young teen that they can be free to fly . especially here

amid the warm sunshine . sky . and smiles

magic words

while not monumental these make me smile ...

"THANK YOU"

a very special painting from a gifted artist

driving downtown as the sun reflects turquoise

"HAPPY CHILDREN"

my oldest is in her element as an environmental teacher

"OUR TREE IS BLOOMING"

means spring is appearing in my back yard amid the branches

what everyday words are magic to you...

together

take the pieces of this day in black and white
add the glue of life with someone special

a few weeks ago while making dinner I looked out the window and saw her
photographing trumpet vine blooms in the sunshine
I reached for my camera and took these shots
while trying to be quick and quiet
probably through misty eyes truth be known
my camera focused on an old tree root hanging on the garden wall
...
with her images of orange and mine of blur
an impromptu photo project bloomed on that afternoon
in the hearts and mind of a mother and a daughter

I feel content sitting here in the warmth of the sun

the chain represents our lives apart... yet together as a family

although the columns are peeling and rough they are still strong

the motion of life can be felt in the swaying of a porch swing

the soft shadows play on the side of the B & B
where we stay each time we visit our daughter in college

it has become a home away from home

with the faint outline of
the outside arrangement
in the dark.
