I create bits of art

nothing amazing . only simple

yet as I work with a piece of earth

I am reminded we are just that

this past week i planted flowers at the cemetery for my late husband. it is our custom to place small stones on the headstone to mark a visit. i tidied up all the stones left over the last twelve years, many of them just like the ones in the photo here. beautiful photo ELK

It's interesting to hear that these stones have so many different meanings for people. For me they remind me of learning to skip stones on the river with my father. The search for the 'best' stone was always my favourite part.

I love the smooth dark stone against the delicate embroidered cloth. And we are all that, true.

Ooo...this had my toes tingling, Elk! ;o) smooth.pure.solid.unique... that could define the rock, and us too, yes? I think that. As ever you bring us the moment where the ordinary and extraordinary meet. :o) ((LOVE & HUGS))
