words flow

quiet thoughts of my mom and daughters as i greet the day

morning
living room windows
constant companion
filter of morning light
echo memories like a stage
little girl skirts twirl to music of laughter
wheel-chaired grandmother sits still in the center
dawn to dusk you remain
open to the sky

My living room window is a source of comfort... a window to the sky. Thanks for reminding me to appreciate it.

The sky through here reminds me of space and exploration for some reason. It could be the nostalgic aspect of the blinds. I see Mrs. Aldren looking up for her husband...

the slats in the blind make me want to stand on my tiptoes and peep out at the rising or setting sun.

that color is indescribable ... almost like the inside of a seashell. Beautiful post

Shadows. Slats of light. After reading your post on your mom, I have a different perspective of this photo. Thank you for your courageous honesty in sharing.

Dear Elk, my lovelies have just arrived in the mail and I want to thank you so so much- they are absolutely gorgeous and Lucy and I are thriiled! I have not sent anything yet I am afraid, I am so caught up with the house I have started a series of ACT's but haven't quite completed them yet! But I will, promise!
Thank you , big hug!

beautiful words and reflections on light... at times the newly shining sunrise... at times the shadows cast by sunset... like life... the tide rolls in and it rolls out... as summer starts to close out and the shadows grow longer, the days will grow shorter... darkness and light... contrasts...

your post about your mother touches my heart so deeply... if it is your birthday today, or you are nearing it i hope it is day of love and celebration that includes all of the most tender of memories, and also creates new ones...

It is easy to hate blinds (all the dust), but the do the most intersting things to light--not to mention the view! Great poem, too!

Lovely post and I just read your post about your mom. My mom is 88, I'll be seeing her next week. She lives 2,000 miles away; does not want to live in AZ at all :)

Isn't that the way of it? Memories seem to flow as darkness falls; the good and the bad. Then, as sleep finally comes and we're drifting off, the creative thoughts flow. (that's when I do my best writing:-) A lovely image. Nice to share a moment with you.

The words and image are a great match and the words paint a lovely picture.

This was so peaceful to read. I also read the post about your mom. That entire process must have been a difficult time.I am sorry for your loss. You have a very nice way of seeing things, and I admire you for that. Thanks for sharing with us.

sometimes one wants to spend the day behind blinds. Today was such a day.

filtered just enough, not too much,
as is your art.
and I'm sure you noticed my red hair, and yes it is turning gray too, slowly, sometimes it startles me , sometimes it quiets
