UNDER COVER

you may remember this tour of my year round garden ...
we do not get freezes that last more than a couple of days
when we do though my sweet helper Sam

helper

and I haul out the garden quilts. It sounds crazy
but just covering up potted plants on the coldest evenings
can save them from damage

forsythia

we group the pots together
and throw this quilt on the tender blooms
for the evening

warmth

there are a couple that are too heavy to move
so they get this warm beauty

more

these quilts are old and worn
adopted over the years
this blue toned one is an indoor only,
to wrap up in after the garden is protected

stiches

I am going to steer away from my yard for a couple of days
and will try to decorate my home for Christmas..it is time right?

have a wonderful weekend!

literally

What a sweet Golden face Sam has!

I'm spending my first winter in Nebraska. No need to cover plants. It's too damn cold.

Sam is a gorgeous boy I loved that feeling when Chester would rest his head on my knee and look up at me.
The quilts are a lovely idea! Our garden is covered with a quilt of snow right now.

Looked at your header and laughed. Gray rocks! I've been gray for years (genes from me mither). I dyed it for a while but what a bother! ... and I hated the thought of those chemicals on my head ... too close to my brain for comfort. LOL

I'll have to read more of your blog later but hubby is just putting brunch out ... and I'm hungry.

Beautiful Sam!

How I wish I could trade my snow and ice for your partial freezes and flowers in bits and pieces year round. This, too, will pass! Meanwhile, I'll live vicariously through the cyber gardens!
