I guess it's every parents hope, that we will give them what they need to feel rooted and whole, yet allow them their independence. Your lovely image is perfectly paired to this quote.

I love having plants around that need their roots partially exposed like the ones in your photos. (I miss my orchids!) It expresses both strength and vulnerability. Groundedness and freedom.

Yes. Perfect with your chosen quote.

very nice sentiment. i went and bought a huge load of tulips on friday to try and stave off the winter blues. soon your paper whites will bloom and you will feel like you have wings.

I love your quote. I hope I gave my boys wings - I think I did - they are both independant and successful in their chosen careers. I learned something today...I didn't realize paperwhites would grow without soil. =)

Motherhood taught me an important lesson. It was important that I was rooted first and the "perch" was level so that when she spread her wings, I was strong and grounded myself to catch her. The best part about life is that as your children grow and their wings become stronger - you as a mother and you as a person find your roots have dug in deeper and the source of your strength is clearer.

As my children are growing older, I see them stretching their wings. It makes me so proud, and also a little sad.
